TNN spoke to a number of so-calledescort services in Mumbai and Delhi confirmed that their girls are in demand inGujarat.
Most of their clients are businessmen with the taste the exotic. Thegirls often accompany the businessmen to seminars, posing as hisemployee.
Mehendi claims to have a regular of clientele in Ahmedabad.He makes a neat Rs 35,000 a month, after paying off the women.
"Weprovide full service," Mehendi when TNN met him recently while travelling fromDelhi to Ahmedabad on the Ashram Express. "I have meet some new clients who havebeen demanding Russians. I have to meet them before I finalise the deal. I haveto make sure that they are safe not psychos. Gujarati businessmen are safeunlike those from Mumbai or Delhi. Besides my escorts are all well-dressed andsophisticated." Some of the "low-priced" Russian women are tourists who are putup at cheap lodges in Pahargunj in Delhi.
They do not mind spending aday with client if it can get them the cash to back. The rates are anywherebetween Rs 10,000 to Rs 18,000 per night, depending on the age of the women thetype of customer. "Our three Spanish girls are already in Ahmedabad with aMiddle-East delegation," said one service provider.
Police officialsin Ahmedabad said Mumbai papers are full of advertisements offering these''escort services'', sometimes doubling up as ''massage services''. Theadvertisements mention Polish, Lebanese, Japanese and Thai masseurs. "Hardly anyadvertisement mentions an Indian escort or an Indian masseur these days," saidone official.
The contact numbers in these advertisements normallymention names such as Nancy, Jenny, Sameera etc., though, if one calls up, it isnormally a male voice which answers the phone. Nasirbhai specialises in NRIescorts for which he charges anywhere between Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per nightRs 2,000 rebate for regular customers.
"I had supplied two suchstudents to a leading multinational company in South Gujarat in December," hesaid. But deals are finalised only after the credentials of the client areascertained. Said Vadodara police commissioner Sudhir Sinha, "Such cases dohappen but they don''t come out in the open. We can''t do much unless there isproof that a third party is involved and money has exchangedhands."
Echoed PC Thakur, joint commissioner of police (Ahmedabad)."It''s a clever way of circumventing SITA. And in this age of globalisation, somehave managed to make it look dignified," he said. However, according to Thakur,there is no such case reported in Ahmedabad.
