Spin is proud to offer Spin Access, which provides access to our scooters for people without smartphones, mobile location services, or credit cards. Spin Access also provides discounted fares for those who qualify.

I have a limited income and want to ride at a discount:
Spin Access offers cheaper rides to users with limited incomes. You will be asked to provide eligible documents indicating your status and proof of address. Users in Canada may submit proof of your enrollment in GST/HST credit, Provincial benefit program, or local low-income transit pass.

I have a limited income and want to ride at a discount:
Spin Access offers cheaper ride rates to users with limited incomes. You will be asked to provide eligible documents indicating your status and proof of address. Users in the UK may submit proof of your enrollment in Jobcentre Plus Travel Discount Programme, NHS NC2 card, Pension Credit award letter, Income Support entitlement letter and Other Universal Credit low-income element.
I want to ride but I don’t have a smartphone and/or credit card.
No smartphone, no credit card: if you have a limited income and have received an Access code, you can use our text-based (SMS) system to unlock scooters. You can also use the SMS system if you already have ride credit on your account.

No smartphone, but you have a credit card: in certain cities only (see below under In-person visits), you may purchase Spin Access ride credit in person with cash (or credit and debit card, where available) at a local Spin office. The minimum purchase amount is $10. You can then use that ride credit via our SMS system to unlock and ride.

A smartphone but no credit card: you can use our app to get access to scooters, but may need to purchase a prepaid debit card to set yourself up in the app. Learn more about how to find a prepaid debit card that works for you. Some cities, you can purchase ride credit in cash (see below).
Unlocking a Ride
After you have been approved for Spin Access, you will receive a Spin Access promo code and can start riding with a discount immediately!
If you have a smartphone:
Step 01: Download the Spin app.
Step 02: Under “Free Rides” in the menu, select “Your promos”, then tap “Add Promo Code”.
Step 03: Enter the promotional code you received from [email protected]
Step 04: Use the app to locate and unlock
a scooter.
Unlocking a Ride
Once you have applied for Spin Access, you can ride Spin in the following ways:

If you have a smartphone:
Step 01: Download the Spin app.
Step 02: Check your email for a message from Spin with a link to verify your account.
Step 03: Open the Spin app. Find the Spin Access page by accessing the left hand menu bar. Check your Spin Access application status, benefits, and terms.
Step 04: If you are approved for Spin Access, you will receive an email and in-app notification. You are ready to ride and don’t need to take any additional steps!

If you do not have a smartphone:
Step 01: When applying for Spin Access, select “No” on the question “Do you have a smartphone that can download and run the Spin app?”
Step 02: After you are approved for Spin Access, find a scooter, and look for its vehicle number. This is usually located underneath the QR code, and sometimes also on the stem beneath the handlebars.
Step 03: Text “unlock” and the vehicle number to (206) 800-6703 to unlock, e.g. “unlock 12345”.
Step 04: To lock the vehicle and end your ride, text “lock” to the same number.
Step 05: Text “balance” to the same number to be informed of your current credit on the account, if any.
In Person Visits
In the Spin cities listed below, you may buy Spin Access credit at a local Spin office. Transactions are cash only, with the exception of our office in Portland, OR, which accepts credit cards.
