thak you so much citigirl1111. its fair to say i am fairly straight forward, before cancer just worked full time in oxford (now on sick leave) and now I just look after my two primary school children and go through chemo (last round monday hurrah then the next bit etc etc)


Slightly strange topic - online dating with cancer


This is a weird one but if you have any thoughts I would be grateful to know them. I was thinking about maybe joining a dating website (not entirely to do with romance although if that came along great but as much for company etc), but wondered whether anyone knows of a dating website for people who have cancer. Not so I can spend all my days chatting about cancer with one specific person (who might also have cancer) but more so once the "C" topic comes along you know they might already be prepared for it and will not disappear asap!

On monday i go for my last round of chemo for breast cancer then surgery etc. not much more to say on that front but best be straight with you!


Not sure what your circumstances are. I am single with two primary school children who are my world and am currently on sick leave from my full time job.


I have a picture of me (with my hair! which I miss so much, my oncologist says it will grow back, cannot wait!) but not sure how to send it.

Im on twitter and I follow a fair few ladies on there who are open about their cancer journey and, also - some about the fact that they're single and looking for someone nice. They post up some pics here and there and they never seem to be short of offers and compliments xx so it appears many people are quite comfortable dating someone who has had cancer or who is managing it still.


I also met my partner on Twitter. there are some lovely chaps on there ;) I guess if you had a profile like the ladies I mention above, people will have advanced notice of your journey xxx My sister's BF is one of those gym/health people who has an online profile whereby he is quite open and honest about him having beaten testicular cancer several years ago. My sister didn't bat an eyelid and dated him without question (even though we had lost our parent to cancer, it certainly did not put her off) xxx

Im not necessarily looking for romance just to chat to someone (I am 48) who will not leave as soon as I mention the cancer word. To be fair I have never tried this before so maybe I am anticipating people will do this before I have any evidence .

I would highly recommend Twitter then :) Especially if you're looking for friends and company and. who knows where that will lead? :)


If you set up a profile and then search for #breastcancer, let's say. you'll likely find some people who have experienced the same journey as you. You can then follow them and they may well follow back. You'll then pick up followers here and there as you engage with people/tweet. 


My profile is mostly around my love of music and I have met my partner on there from just sharing songs, following people who are also music people, commenting on posts that my fave bands have tweeted etc. Also, have a fair few friends I've met in person and enjoyed time with xxx defo worth looking into :) xxx
